Enigmatic and deliberately hypocritical, this is not a typical documentary film.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kill Your Idols! Click Here

Taking cues more from video art than journalism, the film is structured thematically and is more complex than a linear historical survey. The editing cleverly compiles interviews with the originators of No Wave, newer bands, and Sonic Youth (the bridge between) into a sort of a dialogue of confession and criticism. The director doesn’t conceal the fact that the cuts in editing pervert time, which appropriately comments on the medium of documentary film itself.

Shot in NY homes and streets rather than studios, Kill Your Idols meditates on the notion of nostalgia, time, scene, and music history. The film is unique for the ability to display the intentions of art through the musicians’ view whether they sound dignified or not. It’s clever and cocky and insightful. There are connections and contradictions. There are no pre-chewed short cuts. The film won’t tell you what to think, but it will make you do so.

(The hour+ of special features on the DVD are very worth mentioning and include a lengthy, great featurette.)

This one is really good as documentaries go. I love the interviews especially Lydia Lunch just making fun of all the new kids in the New York music scene… thats the best part!!!

Tokyo Pig was a cartoon on ABC Family a few years ago. This DVD features 8 episodes of the series (When Pigs Fly, Dad is the Worst Cook in the World, Luck of the Draw, Trouble in Lightning-land, A Bitter Fruit, Incredible Shrinking School, Samurai Lunch Lady, and pigs on Ice). The show is very weird. For example, Sunny Pig does a dance each episode for no particular reason. If you like the show or other bizarre shows, you will probably want to get this DVD.

Tokyo Pig tells the story of Spencer Weinberg-Takahama, a normal third grader. One day, his life is perfectly normal. He goes to school, does his homework, gets straight As, and lives with his unusual family. The next day, thanks to a magic diary, he receives his loyal and amazing pet, Sunny Pig. So, you’re probably wondering if TP is a good show. Read on.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Best of Tokyo Pig! Click Here

Tokyo Pig can be summed up in one word: underrated. The show itself is excellent, and the animation (which is colorful and weird enough for kids but stylish enough for parents to bear) feels straight out of Japan, the mystic land of anime and video games. The voice acting is good, and there are some familiar voices, such as Spencer himself. The voice actor is the same one who voiced Tai Kamiya in the first two seasons of “Digimon.” Also familiar is Wally Wingert (Spencer’s dad), who, unless I am mistaken, voiced a Tallest in “Invader Zim” and was a cast regular on the popular sketch show, “Kids in the Hall.”

The show has excellent writing and characters (such as mad scientist Wigstaff and Southern beauty queen Tiffany) and, and the plots are well thought out. Character design is good and funny, and the show itself deserves five stars. Why did I give it four, then?

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Best of Tokyo Pig! Click Here

The DVD is bare bones. Commentary? No. Animatics? No. Documentary? No. The only so-called “special features” are English captions for the hearing impaired. Tokyo Pig is a great show, and deserves these extras. Something more like the “Invader Zim” DVDs (which are jam-packed with extras) would be nice.

So, overall, buy or rent? Definitely a buy. The show is great, but please Miramax Kids, add more extras to your DVDs! I hope that Miramax Kids will release more volumes of Tokyo Pig in the future.

The sixth season of FX’s The Shield can be considered the penultimate season of the gritty crime drama. Beginning with the aftermath of Lem’s (Kenny Johnson) death, Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) swears vengeance, unbeknownst to him that his partner Shane (Walton Goggins) is responsible. In the meantime, Vic faces a forced retirement, more so when younger, possibly brasher detective Kevin Hiatt (Moonlight’s Alex O’Loughlin) is brought onto the Strike Team as Vic’s successor. With Kavanaugh (Forest Whitaker) still lurking in the shadows and still trying to bring Vic down once and for all, things reach a boiling point as Vic comes closer and closer to learning the truth, and the reprecussions that come and are going to come in the upcoming final season. Other plot developments of this season include Claudette (CCH Pounder) adjusting to an illness, Dutch (Jay Karnes) in developments that you won’t see coming, Aceveda (Benito Martinez) once again forming an uneasy alliance with Vic, and Shane offering his services to the daughter of an Armenian mob boss (Franka Potente) which he comes to regret. While the sixth season of The Shield offers nothing that hasn’t been done on the show before, it is still an ever-compelling television experience that you can’t get on network TV. The main cast is still good, and while Forest Whitaker doesn’t stick around nearly as long as he did on the previous season, both he and Franka Potente provide for wonderful guest stars. All in all, when watching this season of The Shield, one can tell that the end is indeed near, and what develops next may very well prove that this series will go out with quite a bang.

For all its hard-edges and testosterone-fuelled machismo, The Shield never fails to paint its principal characters as touchingly human, even if the moments are few and far between that we get to glimpse these more tender parts, and this is one of the elements of its success at being the most emotionally cathartic, intense, adrenaline-rush on the telly.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Shield: Season Six! Click Here

The Shield, in my albeit humble opinion, is the single best product ever recorded to celluloid with the intention of playing it back for entertainment purposes: bar nothing. It’s the best thing that’s ever graced my TV screen, and makes other top-drawer productions look pedestrian and even lame by comparison.

Season six is full-throttle, pedal to the metal in the style we’ve become accustomed to, but due to events leading up to the start of the season, the protagonists seem to be in the full throes of a ravaging tornado this season, even more than others.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Shield: Season Six! Click Here

Walt Goggins serves up the convincing intensity of a man who, already mentally questionable at the best of times, is fully unravelling and on a collision course with his own life and the lives of all the others around him as he becomes hopelessly suicidal and insanely reckless on a lone-ranger syle rampage that King Kong would be proud of.

Mackey is on top of his game, keeping a hundred balls in the air at once, making the tough decisions as always, but somehow, this season, you can sense that he is only human and there are things out there that are capable of crushing his game-plan, which has always been a success up to this point and is one of the most admirable things about the man.

The new guy steps up to the vacant spot on the Strike Team with the intention of replacing Mackey as the team leader, and the storyline revolving around his time at the Barn is a worthy one.

The early episode “Baptism by Fire”, where Mackey goes “off the grid” to kidnap a Byz Lat gang-boss from his East LA ghetto stronghold, is one of the most insanely edgey and pumped-up things I have ever seen. Only The Shield can crank the intensity up to these levels, leaving all other movies and TV serials in the dust. The tension this programme can create is just unbelievable, it almost gets to the point where you need a hit of The Shield, you’re no longer just watching it.

All in all, season six is superb. It juggles all the relevant parts and people in just the right way, and keeps on turning up the volume, even from points where you don’t think it can anymore. It’s insane. Season seven I have no doubt will be even crazier. I can’t speak highly enough of this TV series, the quality of its creative and technical production and anyone and everyone who is and was involved in making it. There’s never been anything else like it, it’s a total trail-blazer that keeps getting better as each season goes past. Full marks 100% if 5 stars isn’t good enough for ya.

I think that in many cases, the second season of a TV show is its best season. Why is TV so often completely opposite from sophomore efforts in music and movies? From my own observations it’s because in the second season of a TV show, the actors have gained a comfortable grasp on how to portray the deeper parts of their character. At the same time, the show still has the freshness of a new show, the same rich texture that won it a debut to begin with; the writers are still developing plots that don’t feel stale, so the show hasn’t lost that “new car smell”. Of course there are exceptions: shows that run out of steam soon after they start, and shows that just seem to keep getting better even after the second season.

I don’t know if The West Wing’s second season is its best, but it definitely includes some of the best episodes. Great writing, great acting, great sets and music, all come together to form what has become my favorite TV show ever.

Season Two includes these episodes:
In The Shadow of Two Gunmen (Part 1)
In The Shadow of Two Gunmen (Part 2)
The Midterms
In This White House
And It’s Surely To Their Credit
The Lame Duck Congress
The Portland Trip
Shibboleth
Galileo
Noël
The Leadership Breakfast
The Drop In
Bartlet’s Third State of the Union
The War at Home
Ellie
Somebody’s Going to Emergency, Somebody’s Going to Jail
The Stackhouse Filibuster
17 People
Bad Moon Rising
The Fall’s Gonna Kill You
18th and Potomac
Two Cathedrals

(You can look up an episode guide if you want a quick summary of the plots; I didn’t want to spoil any surprises here.)

I doubt Warner will include the special episode “Isaac and Ishmael” in this set. This episode was written after the 9/11 attacks, and aired a week before the start of Season Three; thus, if it is included with a regular season, it will probably be the third.

For four years, the West Wing was largely considered the best show on TV, and not without good reason. Although this could have turned into a liberal lovefest, the show managed to tap into and rediscover a pride and optimism in our government that our founding fathers must have felt. Far from being venal, corrupt parasites, the politicians of The West Wing were talented and generous people who truly care about the country and struggle to make the right decisions, which often literally are between life and death. It’s no wonder that this splendid little shade of fantasy continues to be popular, especially when we have becomed accustomed to expecting less and less from those who are running our country.

The West Wing’s second season had the show really beginning to hit its stride. In my mind, the show hit its peak here and in the third season, with plenty of new drama and surprises. The season starts in the aftermath of the previous cliffhanger, with the President and Josh being shot by white supremacists and everyone else struggling to get through it all. Then, the season begins to move along. Among the highlights: Emily Procter begins her recurring role as Ainsley Hayes, a Republican lawyer working in the White House and constant sparring partner for Sam; another “Big Block of Cheese Day”; a great Christmas episode in which Josh is haunted by the news of a fighter pilot that shared his birthday who killed himself; an unexpected filibuster, and the discovery that the President has Multiple Sclerosis, which is impressively explored in the episode “17 People”. The episode takes the form of a series of fiery dialogues between Toby and the President and is filled with tension, but is lightened up by its subplot of staffers trying (unsuccessfully) to come up with jokes for the President. The juxtaposition is inspired, and the episode sets up what would become a key issue in the show for the upcoming season.

In conclusion, this is a season that brought much bellowing laughter and heart-gripping drama, often in the same episode, which is an Aaron Sorkin trademark if there is one. The West Wing is an incredible piece of work, and it definitely merits repeat viewings. Go ahead and get it. You owe it to yourself.

I love this show! I’m a huge fan. I love the story line, excellent writers, captivating acting! I’m glad they show it on BET, however, myself and ALL of my peers would love to see new episodes! We all agree that we relate to the characters because they are in our age group and experience what we experience; similar to what the show “Soul Food” did for my colleagues who are a little bit more “mature” than myself. Does anyone one know how we can get this show back on the air?! Who do we need to beg?! I’m so happy that the DVD is FINALLY going to be available for us to purchase! I can honestly say that I KNOW for a FACT that this DVD set is going to make huge sales! After watching just 1 episode, I was hooked (not in a bad way)! Please bring our show back, Ladies night is not the same without it! Our boyfriends and husbands even watch it. It’s so much I have to say about this show because it’s truly a favorite of mine and all of my friends.

I think BET is considering the Game for their fall lineup. It would be nice to see the conclusion of the Derwin & Melanie drama.

I have to admit, I was ready to hate this movie. Having been a long-term fan of the Harry Potter books, a less-than-faithful adaptation could have spoiled it all for me. As it turns out, my fears were unfounded.

Okay, some viewers will nitpick over discrepencies in characters’ appearances, but all the IMPORTANT stuff is here. The relationships between the characters are spot-on. The film also successfully convinces us that the magical goings-on are part of the protagonists’ everyday lives, whilst at the same time instilling a sense of wonder in the audience. This difficult balance is one of the main reasons the books are so successful.

Some of the child actors are a little wooden at times, but generally the all-British cast is excellent. The rich characters of Rowling’s books have translated perfectly. Robbie Coltrane IS Hagrid. Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron) have immense fun delivering most of the film’s best lines. Dan Radcliffe does well in the difficult task of communicating Harry’s thoughts, when the audience is unable to see them written down. Deserved mention, too, for Maggie Smith’s McGonagall, Alan Rickman’s Snape and Tom Felton’s nasty-yet-vulnerable Draco Malfoy.

The quality of the production is excellent. The sets and costumes are fabulous, and the attention to detail is breathtaking. The effects are superb, obvious highlights being Harry’s invisibility cloak, and the Quidditch match (an adrenaline-pumping spectacle right up there with anything Star Wars has to offer).

In between the showpieces, director Chris Columbus remembers to let his audience take a breather with quieter moments. Harry staring out of his bedroom window, and he and Ron opening their presents on Christmas morning, are endearingly down-to-earth. And the scenes of Harry in front of the Mirror of Erised brought a tear to my eye (If you’ve read the book, you’ll know why).

That’s not to say the movie is without its faults. In an attempt to please purists, ALL the subplots have been included (though pared down a great deal), when omitting a few entirely may have helped the pacing of the film. The opening half-hour may be difficult to grasp for those who are unfamiliar with the book. A few of the magical artefacts seem rather more mechanical than mystical.

But these are all small niggles, really. The bottom line is that 152 minutes fly by as if it were half an hour. The only wish you have is that it were longer, and there can be no better sign of a good film than that.

Like the director, Chris Columbus, I believe that since the book was so well done, the movie shouldn’t change anything significant. I needn’t go on about the actors, scenery, music, etc. It’s all very well done and extremely entertaining.

The movie itself gets 5 stars from me.
My review subtracts a star for the second disk which I found extremely frustrating. There is some very nice material included but it’s so difficult to find while wading through the inconsequential filler material that it almost isn’t worth it.

BTW - if you have a search function on your DVD player (on my remote, it is accessed through the ‘Display’ button) the deleted scene access screen is #77

Let me just say that I’m not particularly a Julia Roberts fan. So when my wife asked to go see Notting Hill in the theater, I politely declined… but I figured that I’d give her a suprise and buy the DVD for her. Well, I sat and watched it with her, and was pleasantly suprised, myself!

Set in the real-life Notting Hill section of London, this VERY fairy-tale story is filled with moments of true belly-aching laughter, painful heartbreak, and one delightful “car chase.”

Julia Roberts portrays Anna Scott, a fifteen-million-dollar per picture movie actress who gets tangled in the trappings of love with William Thacker, a bumbling, but likeable book-shop owner convincingly played by Hugh Grant. Notting Hill wastes no time in setting up this premise and rockets off from there. The film moves along at a good pace and only has one noticible slow spot. The music chosen to accompany the film is beyond perfect. Watch the screen closely when you hear “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers.

I would be remiss if I did not mention “Spike”. Rhys Ifans plays Spike, William’s very odd, very Welsh flat mate. You can’t help but laugh every time he’s on the screen. Luckily, the director and editor didn’t over-do Spike’s antics, so we can truly enjoy the moments when he’s on.

The Collector’s Edition goodies make the DVD a true gem and a great bargain. The musical highlights let you quickly jump into the middle of the movie to enjoy a song while watching the movie roll. (After you’ve watched the movie, go find “Ain’t No Sunshine”!) The deleted scenes give a glimpse of what could have happened in the film. After watching, I’d say that I agree with the director’s choice of endings.

This movie proves that romantic comedies can still be done well… and you don’t have to have Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan to do it.

Hugh Grant’s role as Travel Book Shop employee William Thacker reprises the same shy, humble, lovable, but lonely character with a small group of friends that made him a star in Four Weddings And A Funeral. That may be because Notting Hill, like FW&AF, was written by Richard Curtis. “And so it was another hopeless Wednesday when I walked a thousand yards to work, not suspecting that this was going to be the day my life would be changed forever.” In two words, that catalyst is Anna Scott, currently one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, who is promoting her latest film Helix, a sci-fi film whose costume design and one interior setting owes a nod to Kubrick’s 2001. She happens in his bookshop, but that first meeting sets off a series of meetings where they spend time with each other.

Eccentric barely describes Spike, his Welsh roommate with a shock of wild blond hair. Never have I seen a more comical opposites since Felix and Oscar of the Odd Couple. Spike is clearly the Oscar of the pair, but then again, I doubt if Oscar would have worn a T-shirt saying, “Get It Here”, with an arrow pointing downwards, or unwittingly mistake mayonnaise for yogurt.

In the course of meeting Anna, he in turn introduces her to his small group, including a married couple, Max and Belle, the latter in a wheelchair, a stockbroker named Bernie, and William’s wild-looking sister Honey, whose bulging eyes and feathery hair makes her nevertheless lovable in a different sort of way.

However, they live in two different worlds. As William puts it, “I live in Notting Hill, you live in Beverly Hills.” Both have different schedules, lifestyles, and perspectives on things. Yet his inner smile lights up whenever she pops in and spends some time with him. And applying a metaphor used, Anna is a goddess. “You know what happens to mortals who get involved with the gods?” That’s terrible for William, who confides in Spike that it’s like “taking love heroin and I couldn’t have it again. I’ve opened Pandora’s Box and there’s trouble inside.”

Anna is a typical box-office draw who has to put up with the tail side of the fame coin. The many boyfriends, the laying out of her private life in the tabloids, but also how she’s unable to live an ordinary life and how she has to put up with unkind words, as when she overhears a group of businessmen saying how actresses are equal to prostitutes and that she is the definitive actress. Ouch! But despite the fame, in the end, she’s “just a girl asking a boy to love her.”

The one pullback aerial shot that has the couple approaching the bench dedicated to a loved one, while Ronan Keating sings Keith Whitley’s “When You Say Nothing At All” was a perfect combination of great camera work enhanced by a haunting love song.

Hugh Grant has another winning role and seems to have the knack of starring opposite great female leads and being compatible. Be it Andie McDowell (Four Weddings) or Emma Thompson (Sense And Sensibility), he does himself and Julia Roberts great credit. After seeing this at the theatre when it first came out, I sighed with relief that I finally found the most charming movie with Julia Roberts since Pretty Woman. All the actors portraying Williams’ small circle also lend great support, but Rhys Ifan steals the show as the outlandish Spike. Those who liked Four Weddings will definitely go for Notting Hill, which has a tad more sweetness, like apricot and honey.

This is a seriously good movie, for those on the search for a serious good movie, but don’t go expecting much by way of a plot. With much of it improv, it feels more like a documentary. Like “survivor for seniors.” What happens if you drop a busload of very old women off in the woods and tell them to fend for themselves?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Strangers in Good Company! Click Here

It’s all very civilized, and there’s not a lot of urgency about it. No pulling straws to see who gets eaten. Just a bunch of old women (and one mildly injured young one) trying to figure out how to divide an apple into 7ths while sharing the details of their lives. The most intriguing, for me, aspect of this film is that the actresses played themselves. Nonagenerian Constance Garneau was really Nonagenerian Constance Garneau, and when she weeps with fear at the thought of her impending death it doesn’t feel like acting. Octagenerian Cissy Medding’s bewildered grief as she faces her own fear of a life unloved and alone is not feigned.

But don’t let me mislead you–this movie is not depressing. It’s affirming. These old girls get along very nicely with each other and their world, and while there are no answers to the deeper dilemmas they face (we do get the sense that Constance may find hers), they manage their present challenge with an enviable bon vivant. In places, in fact, it’s very funny. The interaction between Mary Meigs and Cissy Meddings when Mary reveals her awkward secret is priceless.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Strangers in Good Company! Click Here

Good friends, good movie. I highly recommend.

This is one of a select few DVDs I give to special friends knowing that the viewing of it will be received as a true gift. The story line is simple: 8 women — 7 are elderly — must grow resourceful when their bus breaks down and they are stranded miles from civilization.

At the time the film was made, the 7 women, all non-actors, were feeling old and marginalized in their lives. Their situation changed one magical summer when they became unlikely movie stars. This film is a record of that summer. The viewer is caressed by the presence of these women as they open up and blossom before our eyes on screen. Enduring friendships were forged among cast members, many of whom felt their participation in this film was the best experience of their lives. Inevitably, most of the cast members are now gone. It is rewarding to know that these women lived to experience their standing ovations when the film was initially released.

Please note that there is a companion book about the making of the film (and more), written by cast member Mary Meigs titled “In the Company of Strangers” published by Talonbooks. It is a splendid read and is available from Amazon.com.

Hell in a Cell World Heavyweight Championship Match: CM Punk (Champion) vs. The Undertaker

Buy,Download, Or Stream WWE: Hell in a Cell 2009! Click Here

A brutal match that will probably be overlooked since it’s the opener. Undertaker threw Punk against the steel multiple times, even hitting a big boot on the apron that sent Punk flying into the steel. A similar thing like this happened when Punk went for a bulldog off the apron. Punk crawled under the ring to escape from the clutches of Undertaker and then dropkicked the steel steps into Undertaker’s knees. Punk tried to use a steel chair on Undertaker to keep him down, but this attempt failed. Undertaker then went for the Chokeslam, but Punk countered. Undertaker then countered Punk’s Go To Sleep attempt into a Tombstone Piledriver attempt, but Punk countered. Punk then hit some basic offense and went for his knee strike/bulldog, but Undertaker countered into the Last Ride. Amazingly, Punk kicked out. Punk brawled Underatker into a corner and ran at him with the steel chair, but Undertaker kicked it into his face. Undertaker then hit the Chokeslam followed by the Tombstone Piledriver to win the match and become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Winner: The Undertaker. Match Rating: 5/5

Intercontinental Championship Match: John Morrison (Champion) vs. Dolph Ziggler

Nice, fast-paced action, but I expected more from these two. It was back-and-forth, but they stalled too long at the beginning. Ziggler hit a series of high impact moves to start with, but Morrison continually kicked out. Towards the end of the match, Morrison hit Ziggler with a sweet enziguri followed by the Starship Pain to get the victory and retain his Intercontinental Championship. Winner: John Morrison. Match Rating: 4/5

Divas Championship Match: Mickie James (Champion) vs. Alicia Fox

Sort of sloppy at first, but this match really took me by surprise. James’s attempts to go to the top rope were thwarted multiple times by Fox, but James finally hit the flying Lou Thesz Press that she does. This started a small brawl, but James dodged the Scissors Kick and hit fox with a DEVASTATING DDT to get the pin and retain her title. Winner: Mickie James. Match Rating: 4/5

Unified WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Chris Jericho and The Big Show (Champions) vs. Batista and Rey Mysterio

Awesome match. Mysterio and Jericho put on a clinic in the ring, with Mysterio hit a ton of high-impact moves and high-flying moves on Jericho, including a springboard moonsault, but Jericho managed to dodge the 619 multiple times. Mysterio tried to take on Big Show by himself, but Big Show tossed him around like a ragdoll. Jericho and Batista went at it for a while, but Batista managed to dodge the Lionsault. Batista was then hit with a big leg drop from Big Show, but Mysterio broke up the pin with a springboard splash maneuver. Batista and Mysterio hit some tag team moves as well, but despite two 619s, Mysterio couldn’t put Big Show away, who finally hit Mysterio with a Chokeslam to retain the titles. Winners: Chris Jericho and The Big Show. Match Rating: 5/5

Last Chance Hell in a Cell WWE Championship Match: John Cena (Champion) vs. Randy Orton

Awesome match that was extremely surprising. The match started with them brawling on the outside, and both men used the cell to hurt one another. As the match continued, both men countered one another’s finishers, and they each tried to use the steel steps against each other, but their attempts failed. Orton hit his signature offense, as did John Cena, who also hit the Five-Knuckle Shuffle, followed by the Attitude Adjustment! Amazingly, Randy Orton kicked out. Cena then locked in the STF, but Orton crawled out of the ring to break the hold. Orton then kicked Cena into the referee, which knocked the referee out, but Cena then locked in the STF again, and Orton tapped. Cena thought the match was over, so he let go of the hold. Orton then hit the RKO out of nowhere, but Cena KICKED OUT! A frustrated Orton tied cena in the ropes and choked him out. Orton then hit the Concussion Punt to win the match and become the new WWE Champion. Winner: Randy Orton. Match Rating: 5/5

Drew McIntyre vs. R-Truth

Stupid match. R-Truth tried hard to make it interesting by hitting some nice dropkicks and other high impact and high-flying moves, but McIntyre made the crowd dead. All he did was use some submission holds on R-Truth, but R-Truth hit the Scissors Kick on McIntyre, who kicked out. McIntyre went for the Double-Arm DDT, but R-Truth rolled him up for a weak two. R-Truth went for another Scissors Kick, but McIntyre dodged it and hit the Double-Arm DDT to win. Why didn’t ECW have a match? Why did this crap have to be on the card at all? Winner: Drew McIntyre. Match Rating: 2/5

Triple Threat United States Championship Match: Kofi Kingston (Champion) vs. Jack Swagger vs. The Miz

This match was too sloppy to reach its full potential, but it was still pretty good, except for the ending. At first, everyone was just all over the place. Swagger ate a Boom Drop and a vicious Trouble in Paradise from Kofi, the latter of which occured when Miz ducked out of the way at the last second. Miz then hit the Skull Crushing Finale, but Swagger put Kofi’s foot on the bottom rope at the last second. Swagger dominated Miz and then hit the Gutwrench Powerbomb, but Kofi then hit another Trouble in Paradise on Swagger, finally pinning Miz for the win and to retain his title. I’m sorry, but Kofi has had the belt for way too long. Winner: Kofi Kingston. Match Rating: 4/5

Hell in a Cell Match: D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) vs. Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase)

Very brutal. The match started with Legacy ambushing DX while they made their entrance, which made a brawl ensue. Rhodes ate a double suplex onto one of the announce tables, as well as a back body drop over the fan barricade and smacking into the Cell! DiBiase suplexed Triple H from the crowd to ringside, and then the brawl continued. Rhodes slammed Michaels’s leg in the cell door and then used the chain meant to lock the door to knock Michaels out. Rhodes and DiBiase isolated Triple H on the stage. They hit a double DDT on Triple H on top of the stage, and then DiBiase applied the Million Dollar Dream momentarily to allow Cody to get into the position to hit Triple H with the Cross Rhodes on the stage! Rhodes and DiBiase then were locked in the Cell with Michaels, who tried to fight back, but failed rather miserably. DiBiase and Rhodes hit tag team moves on Michaels, though Michaels occasionally had a spur of offense that was made up of his signature stuff. DiBiase and Rhodes then used the Cell to attack Michaels while Triple H watched helplessly from the outside of the Cell. Triple H tried to break the chain on the Cell using a steel chair but failed, so he disappeared to the backstage area. In the ring, Michaels pulled a steel chair from under the ring and chucked it into Cody Rhodes’s face! Rhodes and DiBiase then continued on the offensive, with Rhodes holding the chair right on Michaels’s head while DiBiase hit a vicious Randy Orton-style dropkick right into Michaels’s head! Triple H came back with bolt cutters and cut the chain off the cell door. He saved Michaels from the assault from Rhodes and DiBiase, who had resorted to applying the Figure Four Leglock around the steel ring post as well as the Million Dollar Dream combination that defeated him at Breaking Point. DiBiase was thrown into Rhodes, who was on the apron, and Rhodes was sent flying into the Cell! As the match continued, Triple H and Michaels dominated, with Triple H pushing the referee down to keep the door open. Triple H hit DiBiase with a Pedigree on the outside and then rolled him out of the ring, then he instructed the referee to lock the door! This put DiBiase in Triple H’s earlier position as Triple H set up the steel chair around Cody’s throat. Michaels hit a Flying Elbow Drop on the chair to crush Rhodes’s throat! Then, simultaneously, Michaels hit the Sweet Chin Music while Triple H smashed his sledgehammer into Rhodes’s face to win the epic match! Winners: D-Generation X. Match Rating: 5/5

OVERALL EVENT

In all actuality, this was a great event. There didn’t seem to be much backstage shenanigans like we’re used to, just a couple of interviews here and there, but the actual wrestling was very nice. However, despite this being a very solid pay-per-view that is definitely worth checking out, it will ruin Hell in a Cell for you. It’s not that the Hell in a Cell matches on the card are bad, it’s just that they are not nearly as brutal as they used to be, with the exception being the main event. It’s sort of an overkill of Hell in a Cell, taking away from the mystique that used to surround the structure. With that being said, it’s still worth your time, just not as violent as you would expect.

Overall, i was pleased with this solid ppv, dispite no blood. The hiac matches didn’t dissapoint and suprised me with their odd postions in the card. One suprising highlight of the event was jerishow vs. rey/batista, which was a better match than i expected it to be. Thanks for reading!

Hell In A Cell Match for the World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk vs. Undertaker

I was very suprised with this being the opener! This match had way better action and booking than their encounter at breaking point. Taker began the match with some nice offense, throwing punk into the cage. Punk then turns things around and throws taker into the steel steps. Punk was in control for the next few minutes, getting in alot of offense. Later in the match, taker is on the outside and punk dives through the ropes and the deadman goes hits the cage. They go back in the ring, trading punches and headbuts, taker goes for a chokeslam, but punk kicks him in the back of the head. Punk brung in a chair and nailed taker with it, only to get a 2. Punk went for another chair shot, but got a boot in the face. In the end, undertaker chokeslams punk and then connects with a tombstone to win the world title! The match was kept short, only about 11-12 mins since taker is somewhat hurt. Overall this was a good opener and the crowd was really into it. Match Rating:3.5/5

Intercontinental Championship

John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler

Lots of good action in this one, but was outshined by the cell matches. Good offense by both ziggler and morrison throughout the match and some really creative moves. A good edition of mat wrestling aswell. Morrison failed to hit the starship pain throughout the match, but finnaly hit it in the end to beat ziggler and retain the ic belt. Match Rating:4/5

Divas Championship

Mickie James vs. Alicia Fox

This was a very sloppy matchup. Fox wasn’t ready for a title shot on ppv and mickie just couldn’t carry her to a good match. Mickie james reatains with a ddt. Match Rating:2/5

WWE Unified Tag Team Championship

Chris Jericho and Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio and Batista

This was a very impressive match, which took me by suprise. Rey and Y2J started the match off with some nice offense. Jericho tagged in show and big show dominated mysterio for a while, until mysterio tags in batista. Batista cleans house, but out of nowhere, jericho stops him with a codebreaker! Y2J and big show work on batista back and forth. Mysterio eventually tags in and gets a nice ddt on show and another cool moment with batista spearing both jericho and show on the outside. When it looked like mysterio and batista had the win, show countered rey’s follow up from the 619 into a knockout punch. Overall, a very solid tag match and the best showing by far from the jerishow tag team. Match Rating:4/5

Hell In A Cell Match for the WWE Championship

John Cena vs. Randy Orton

So far this is their best encounter this year, surpasing summerslam and breaking point. Lots of brutality in this one. Cena had a mixed reaction with the nj crowd mostly sidding with orton. Lots of back and forth action with cena hitting the attitude ajustment early, only to get a 2. Orton executed some nice spots with the steel chair, with cena making a comeback and locking in the stf, but orton got out and rolled to the outside. Later, orton got a rko on cena, but at this point the ref was knocked out. A clever ending with orton trapping cena in the ropes and chokeing him, so the ref pulled cena out and orton connected with a punt for the win. The crowd was anti-cena here and even after the match when cena walked out, he got somewhat booed. Overall, this was a very good encounter. Match Rating:4.5/5

Drew McIntyre vs. R-Truth

I saw this match coming. Nothing special, just a filler with drew getting his first ppv win against r-truth. Noticable boring chants from the crowd throughout. Match Rating:2/5

Backstage, there was some tension between dibease, rhodes and orton, which is proboly leading up to the dibease face turn, later in the year.

Triple Threat Match for the U.S. Championship

Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger vs. The Miz

Average match. Throughout the match the miz and swagger double teamed kingston. Miz makes the first turn, giving a clothesline to swagger. In the end, swagger hit the gutwrench on the miz and then kofi got a trouble in paradise kick on swagger to get the win. Kofi once agian, gets a suprising retain. Match Rating:3.25/5

Hell In A Cell Tag Team Match

D-Generation X vs. The Legacy

I was suprised this was the main event, instead of the two world title cell matches. Overall, with the action, this defiently had the main event feel. Legacy attacks dx on their entrance. Dx turns things around by giving a suplex to rhodes on the announce table. Lots of back and forth action after that as rhodes and hbk fought by the cell and hhh and dibease foughout on the ramp. Later, rhodes gave a crossrodes to triple h on the ramp. Dibease and rhodes put michaels in the cell, locking the door, leaving the game behind. Legacy brutalized michaels, but hbk ocassionaly came back, only to get beat down. Triple h tried to break the door down many times, but couldn’t. Dibease connected with a million dollar dream on hbk on a steel chair. Triple h finnaly got in, unlocking the chain with bolt cutters. Triple h went right for legacy pounding them down, while a ref came out with another chain. The game used it as a weapon on dibease and then gave him a pedigree and threw him on the outside. The cage was locked again, with dx now using the handicap advantage on rhodes. A very brutal ending, with triple h hitting rhodes with the sledgehammer and michaels giving rhodes a sweet chin music at the same time. Dx got the win after that. A good main event. Match Rating:4.25/5

WWE pulled this ppv off, giving three solid hell in a cell matches.
